Hi there! I’m a graphic designer grown in Southern California but now based in Portland, Oregon! 🌱
One of the things that made me love design is how universal it is. It feels like designers speak their own indescribable creative language. This language can create beautiful communities when people’s different flavors come together. Different styles and influential creative folks can now be interacted with more easily than ever before, which makes this a very exciting time to be part of the design community.
People who work with me would describe my work as bold, research-oriented, organized, and polished. As my practice continues to grow, I hope to keep developing in this direction. My work is influenced a lot by maximalism and brutalism, which you can probably tell. I'd say my style combines design, 3D fabrication/rendering, and type design. But I also have experience printimaking and illustrating in traditional mediums. Hopefully, I can connect with people through creating cool stuff and make the weirdest concepts come to life. My mission is to be the best graphic designer I can by synthesizing my experience in all the different areas I’ve worked in.
Being able to find the creative solution to the “problem” or “need” within a brief has always been satisfying to me. The moment when a cool solution presents itself is one of the most rewarding parts of being a designer. Trying out every idea is fun, but finding a pattern that starts to work and flow together is an amazing feeling. Emulating different situations, styles, and concepts like I’m orchestrating a production is one of the coolest back-end parts of a project. Getting to immerse yourself in its theme/vibe when you’re researching for a specific goal is so fun. I believe that finding which strings to pull and which creative decisions to make to evoke the intended emotion or perception is a great exercise in empathizing with your audience. It feels like customizing details to create a complex stage play with a million-minute details, moving parts, and actors working together.
For me, the fun of graphic design is finding unorthodox solutions to problems. I like to bring dad jokes and a level-headedness to teams I'm a part of. Dad jokes are a vital part of my creative process :)
Admittedly, I'm someone who's always looking for her next hyperfixation. And currently, it is designing typefaces in Glyphs!
